With Easter and Earth Day both in April, we felt it was appropriate to curate a pairing that complimented both respectively.
We were recently introduced to certified sommeliers Scott Carey and Harry Bahiri, who are the founders of Emerald Hare. After sampling their wines and confirming their quality, we knew that we had found the perfect wine for our April pairing. Their wines have not been released to the public yet, but Scott and Harry were very gracious to give our members an exclusive taste of their 2015 Red Blend wine.
The 2015 Red Blend is composed of Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Sirah and Carignan from Mendocino County in California. The wine is complex, but very drinkable young. The undertones of cedar and tobacco leaves are highlighted by the tartufo’s subtle earthiness.
The Original Plymouth is the signature cheese from Plymouth Artisan Cheese. It is a full-bodied heritage cheese with a sharp flavor that is rounded out by notes of butter, fruits and nuts. Its simplicity makes it the perfect accompaniment for the Red Blend and tartufo, as they are the true stars of this month’s pairing.
