This 2016 Sonoma County Zinfandel comes from a year of abundant sunshine and was blended with 15% Petite Sirah, which provides a sturdy tanning backbone and a beautiful dark purple color. On the nose and palate, it showcases an attractive character of rich red raspberry, bright blackberry and an undertone of licorice. Classical and elegant in every way—this is truly the perfect holiday wine to share with friends and family.
We’ve complimented this with Plymouth Artisan’s Hunter cheese, which is a mature, ivory-hued, no-nonsense sharp Vermont cheddar. Two years of aging give it a beautiful crystallized and slightly brittle texture that pairs perfectly with any big, fruit-forward red wine.
The sopressa from Alle-Pia Fine Cured Meats is bold enough to stand up to the other strong flavors in this pairing, without being overpowering and stealing the attention. It is crafted using locally produced Paso Robles Zinfandel wine, cayenne pepper and natural spices that take this pairing to a whole new level.
